Allerdale Join Copeland in "Community Partnership" with Radioactive Waste Management ....

Don't Blink

Today Allerdale Join Copeland in "Community Partnership" with Radioactive Waste Management whose remit is to "Deliver a Geological Disposal Facility."

Today I recieved a triumphalist letter from the Allerdale "Working Group" who are delighted to have 'upgraded' to be partners with the government body Radioactive Waste Management whose sole remit is to Deliver a Geological Disposal Facility for heat generating nuclear wastes and other waste dumps. "Pleased" ????

"Dear Marianne Birkby, Apologies, we sent a message earlier and the links may not have been working properly. Please find the same message below with updated links. I am very pleased to inform you that today, in Allerdale, a Community Partnership has been formed to take forward discussions around geological disposal. The Community Partnership is a group of local people and organisations that will take over from the Working Group to further consider the possibilities of Allerdale hosting a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) somewhere within the identified Search Area. The Search Area comprises 13 Allerdale Borough Council electoral wards but excludes the Lake District National Park and Solway Coast AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty). Mary Bradley will be the Community Partnership’s Interim Chair and will start work alongside representatives from Allerdale Borough Council, Radioactive Waste Management, Cumbria Association of Local Councils (CALC), Cumbria Chamber of Commerce and Inspira. This is only the starting point for the Community Partnership which will continue to evolve over time; recruiting more members that are reflective of the community is an early priority for the group. More information will follow, but anyone interested in becoming a Community Partnership member should email: gdfinfo-allerdale@nda.gov.uk It has been a pleasure to talk to so many of you over the last 12 months. I want to thank you for taking part in the conversation and hope you will continue to engage with the newly formed Community Partnership. If you would like further details, please get in touch or visit the new Allerdale GDF Community Partnership website, which also includes information about the Community Investment Fund and how to apply: www.allerdale.workinginpartnership.org.uk Kind regards, Jocelyn Manners-Armstrong " Press release:Latest News | Allerdale GDF Community Partnership (workinginpartnership.org.uk)"
